There was a lion dance performance at Lighthouse last night so I took the opportunity to take a few photos with my 50mm. The pros of having a fixed lens is the amazing depth of field and being able to photograph at a distance away. The con is having to maneuver passerbys and obstacles like you're playing peekaboo with your subject.
I quite enjoy lion dances but I haven't seen a good performance in a long time. It is hard to describe the atmosphere during a good lion dance, but the audience would laugh and describe the lion's antics to one another, screaming, "Look! It's drunk!" at one another as the dancers staggered around or remarking on its behavior as though it were a real animal. A good lion dance convinces its audience that it is a mythical creature come to life.
