Review: Fairy Beauty Life Food

Lemme start off my saying that I really like the taste of Life Food. It the the most pleasant tasting Fairy Beauty supplement I have tried so far. It is a filling drink (that can be taken as a meal replacement) with a milky soy flavor.

The directions are printed on its packaging:

Mix 3-4 tablespoon with 250ml of warm water. Take 2 times a day before meals (before breakfast and before dinner), or anytime convenient.

According to its leaflet, there are 5 benefits of Life Food:
  • Reduce bad (LDL) cholesterol and lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
  • Improve & maintain healthy blood sugar level.
  • Sustainable weight loss & complete meal replacement.
  • Provide natural antioxidant to fight against harmful free radicals.
  • Improve bone & joint health.
Also, it does not contain:
  • Eggs
  • Yeast
  • Fillers
  • Dairy
  • Additives
  • Sugar
  • Preservatives
  • Artificial Coloring
The first time I took it, I was going out for breakfast. I hadn't realized that it would be so filling and had my usual breakfast portion. By the time I finished my breakfast, I felt like puking. So my advice would be to pace yourself and be conscious about how much you are putting into your body and notice whether you are full or just stuffing yourself with as much food as is on your plate.

There was one time I took it during a workout session. It was my backup because I was in between meals. When I started feeling faint halfway through the workout, I drank Life Food and instantly felt re-energized. To me, it meant that its claims of 'maintaining healthy blood sugar level' is true. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's just what I thought when it successfully saved me from a black-out.

However, I haven't taken it consistently enough to notice its weight loss effects, and I have been eating & drinking like mad because the bf came home for 3 weeks. But, being such a filling drink, there is no reason you won't lose weight from taking it because it suppresses your appetite. Anyway, I will finish the two jars sent to me and do a follow-up post, so check back in a month to see my progress! Or you can follow me on Instagram at @Veyroniqa and track my progress there.

In the meantime, you can join me and challenge yourself! See how much weight you can lose in a month with Fairy Beauty Life Food by going to and getting your own with a RM20 rebate voucher code: FAIRYNEW (on purchases above RM99)!

Also, they are currently having a promotion on Fairy Whitez & Fairy Blossom (click to see their respective reviews!), you will get 4 FREE bottles with every 2 boxes purchased.

What is the value of intelligence?

I was wondering about something I think I heard from my middle school history teacher. I have this faded memory of him telling the class that there is no such thing as an original thought. All ideas are inspired. He explained that we borrow parts of someone else's ideas and make it our own.

I thought of the word 'pink', how much I like the color but hated the word when I was younger and preferred the word 'blue'. If there is no original thought, how did the first words came about? Were they shadows of associations? Maybe the person who came up with the word 'pink' associated it with that color due to his/her upbringing and experiences? All these words they flow like a river, but they are truly rainwater borrowed by the sky.

And I wondered what if the memory was something my mind made up? We can never be too sure of our memories because they fade like old pictures.

But what I do know for sure is that athletes and entertainers are paid more than teachers are.

Teachers who enrich our minds and shape us into who we are, the individuals we turn to when our parents fail us, the ones who have the potential to notice ours and advise accordingly. These important figures in our lives and the lives of future generations are not as recognized as they should be. If I were to name the true heroes of our world, it would be teachers. Not soldiers or the wealthy who have pledged a tiny fraction of their fortune to the less privileged. Without teachers, we have nothing. We would be savages in a civilized era.

So why is it, we pay more for a famous singer than we do for education? Why isn't there a famous teacher (aside from the very few who are already deceased)? Why are there no intellectual olympics? Why isn't intelligence more valued? I am sure that there are debate competitions and philosophical discussions all around the world - sometimes they even happen at 3am in the morning, after a couple of beers. But intelligence isn't identified as talent. We say "oh wow a genius kid gets into university at 9 years old!" and forget about it, but we hear a 9 year old singer and we are blown away. We get obsessed. But never with intelligence.

I then realized that although I welcome meaningful and deep conversations, I don't always appreciate it. Sometimes I want to watch a brainless sitcom and enjoy it, without the interruption of thoughts. Sometimes I turn away from seriousness.

But what if intelligence was prized and fame and recognition went with it? What if, nerds were celebrities and their thoughts were art and their ideas were entertainment? What if we made educational movies, and we walked away from them enlightened? Feel free to brainstorm and add to this list of what ifs. Because the wisdom of the crowd is so powerful, yet so... Un-utilized.

I was in a pub, watching my friends and strangers cheer Daren Liew on (for the Thomas Cup). There were collective sighs and noises of disappointment when he missed, screams when he scored. I got caught up in the excitement and couldn't contain my exclamations and commentating. And then I caught myself.

Why is this important? Why am I going along with this? I don't even like badminton. What. Is. Happening?

I just can't believe that the world can be united over something as trivial as sports, with large amounts of money going into sponsoring athletes, and creating tournaments... I can't believe how passionate people are about celebrities, their willingness to spend all that money on them, for them.... I can't believe how obsessed people are about material things, accumulating more and more, never satisfying our media-perpetuated greed. But we are.

If we invested all that time and money into something beneficial, I'm sure the world would be a better place. We could have already found a way to end poverty, a way to preserve the world and all its inhabitants, to coexist in harmony. Something even more sustainable than permaculture could be something everyone practiced. Overpopulation and pollution could be a thing of the past. We could have cures for every disease, cripples could be whole again. Maybe we could have achieved all the technology which exists only in movies - perhaps even more. We could have already unleashed the full potential of our human minds.

But instead, we sit behind our screens and consume what we are given. We consume, and some create, even less move humanity forward, and at a slower pace than we could be.

I realize now, that we are content.

But I am dissatisfied.

I am but one voice, but I hope that my words inspire ideas, because I don't know how to put my thoughts into action but there's someone out there who can. Maybe it's you. Maybe the internet could be the key to having voices heard, ideas born and our world improved. Here's to hoping that slowly, someday, our priorities would shift.

I hope I get to see that day.

Review: Meng Meng Eye Tape

Meng Meng Eye Tape is unlike any other eyelid tape I've used. The eyelid tapes I'm used to are already adhesive - all you gotta do is peel and stick. But this meshed eyelid tape comes with its own special glue which you have to apply onto the invisible meshed double eyelid tape before applying onto your eyelid.

Trust me, they didn't say that the meshed eyelid tape is invisible for fun, they mean business! A piece fell off my finger before I could apply the glue and POOF! Gone!... Forever.

Here are the product instructions from the packaging:
Before you use the invisible meshed double eyelid tape ("meshed eyelid"), we highly recommend you have applied basic makeup or after complete full makeup. Do not worry as the meshed eyelid will not destroy any applied make up.
1. Peel off a piece of eyelid contained from the sheet (piece of eyelid contains a meshed eyelid and film together).
2. With a tweezer, gently peel off the meshed eyelid from the film.
4. Set the meshed eyelid on your hand, and apply the thick special glue on and over the meshed eyelid.
4. With a tweezer, gently place the glued meshed eyelid on the outside of your eyelid and press for a few seconds for the glue to dry.
Note: Wash your hands and close the glue cap firmly after the applied meshed eyelid. You may also feel a warm or hot sensation when you apply the meshed eyelid for the first time as the special glue contains a small portion of alcohol for quick drying purposes. But if you feel your skin has inflamed or have rashes appeared, please stop using the meshed eyelid immediately.
* To remove the eyelid, simply use any makeup remover.
Special glue ingredients: Rosin, copal, silica, ispropyl alcohol.

They have two sizes of eyelid tape - narrow and wide. Narrow is for smaller eyes and wide for, well, bigger eyes. What you see here is wide. It is 3.5cm across and I noticed that I have to stick it as close to my lashline as possible for a more natural effect. Otherwise, it'd look like plastic surgery gone wrong. ><"

And BAM. Before, during, after. If you notice, my left eye (which is on the right in the picture) is a tapered eyelid, unlike my right eye, which has a parallel fold. So, in attempt to even them out, I applied the meshed eyelid a little bit higher on the right. Also, I've taken the meshed eyelid off and reapplied it a couple of times just so it would appear on camera because, there's really no point in me trying to show you something invisible, right? So, don't worry, it won't be as visible when you apply it!

According to a friend who is a MUA, she said that if all other eyelid tapes have failed you, you should definitely try these meshed eyelid kinds because she has that problem whereby eyelid tapes can't hold up her desired fold but these can!

They are definitely a lot more durable than those stick-on eyelid tapes, because those would lose their adhesion when your eyelid starts to secrete oil and the tape will move and your eye will look funky!! No worries about these babies moving, they will stay firmly in place until you use makeup remover on them!

Tip: Wait for the glue to dry before you open your eyes! Otherwise, you'll have sticky lids and it'll be uncomfortable. And you'll probably mess up your makeup (not sure cos I didn't try, but logically speaking....).

Prologue: Fightingales

Have you ever fought a battle you knew you couldn't win? Have you ever watched the light leave someone's eyes? Have you ever wished it was you lying in that pool of blood, even though it would mean being slain by the enemy?

I have.

Many times, as I stagger and pick up my weapon again, I hesitate. I hesitate not because of the nightmares which haunt me after every battle, but because for a moment, I forget what I am fighting for. Every day is filled with fear, fear of losing someone else in that split second when you weren't looking. Caught off guard. Because we have often used that tactic against our enemies, we fear that one day, it would be used against us.

I wake with a start, almost instantly alert. That's how it is in war, you are often alert. It only takes a few seconds before adrenaline floods your system and the fear is so great, you can smell it in the air. My eyes dart to and fro, looking for any signs of the enemy, but a familiar voice calms my nerves.

"It's dawn." Kayne mutter.

We don't say "it's alright", because we know it never will be. We don't give false hope where victory would not be found. And most of all, we rarely lie. In fact, we often give a cynic's opinion on the truth. Because this is war. And we can't risk anything.

I groan for my aching limbs, I long for a soft bed, a nice warm bath. It has only been three weeks, but the memory of a comfortable life seemed so far away. As though it had been just a dream. A dream I cling onto desperately because I don't ever want to forget that I was happy, once. A dream I fight for. A dream that keeps me going everyday.

It is almost sad how war brings people together and tear them apart. Just like Kayne and I. At first, when we were approached with the secret, we were strangers. We got over that quickly and made a decision which sealed our fate. We had nothing in common yet we clicked like matching pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. She completed me in a way words cannot describe, but now our differences are starting to show and our friendship falls slowly apart.

Kayne places a soft hold on my shoulder as I get up, leading me away from the bedroom we share with four others.

"Dawn." She whispers, sitting down right outside our makeshift tent, I sit down right beside her and watch as the cold, blue sun rises. Sunrises used to be a palette of pastel and vibrant colors, warming to the soul, brimming with what we now lack: Hope. But now, I feel nothing as the dead star light up the sky with its tinge of death.

"Nothing more than a thought," She continued, "Fifteen years of our lives, wasted in an incubator!"

I wanted to turn away, wanted to tell her this isn't the time. I didn't want to believe the harsh reality, not now when my dreams are still fresh in my mind. In the end, I shut my eyes, blocking out the lifeless scenery I still haven't gotten used to. But I couldn't block out her voice.

"Fifteen years," Kayne breathed, her voice getting louder as her fury grew, "All a lie... All just a filthy, sadistic lie!" I could hear anger and grief in her breaking voice as it wilted away into one filled with bitterness and despair, "But a lie I wish I could live in forever. Anything but this nightmare..."

Her words were like a poison tipped arrow, piercing into my heart. Each of her words alarmingly true to what I felt. Not knowing what else to do and at a loss of words, I pull her into a hug and hope it is enough. Her tears flow freely but I realize that I couldn't cry at all. I didn't have the strength to show or the courage to feel.

I wanted to say the words another human being would have said to comfort another, but those were words from another age, a passed age, and the age we live in have no room for such emotion and lies. It is hard to adopt to this new world. It is harder on her, I know.

We weren't supposed to be revived so soon. No, we were supposed to have three more years in the incubator. Three vital years to prepare us for reality. A year for history and education about the world now and how it came to be, another for training. And in the final year, the artificial intelligent software was programmed to prepare us for the truth, to ensure our survival and mental well being for when the stimulation is shut down. To ready us for war.

But the enemy found the base and they had no choice but to salvage what they can. Kayne and I met once in a dream, decided our fates and was pulled out. All others below the age of 15 were wiped out, because they said they didn't have enough time. The ugly truth was, they needed soldiers, they didn't want to burden the resistance with children and toddlers. Oh god, the babies. All flushed away into the ocean so the enemy can't use them.

I suppose Kayne and I are the lucky ones. We happened to be at the right place at the right time. Lucky enough to live and tell the tale. But we never had the chance to make an informed choice. This wasn't the life we would have chosen. Being alive didn't seem like a privilege, we were built for the war, and nothing else.

Review: Fairy Blossom

If you think that breasts stop growing once you pass puberty, you're wrong! And I'm not talking about plastic surgery to attain your dream cups - I'm talking about natural breast enhancement aka NBE. There is more than enough evidence to support the fact that breasts grow and shrink depending on numerous factors. Doubtful? Well then, explain to me how transgender men are able to develop breasts and why your breasts fluctuate with your weight!

Enlarging your assets without plastic surgery is not a dream - most ladies swear by massaging and herbal therapy, mainly pueraria mifirica, wild yam and soy, all of which are found in Fairy Blossom!

According to google, pueraria lobata is also used in bust enlarging and firming aswell, but there isn't much information on it. However, Fairy Blossom truly packs a punch, with:

6000mg Mulberry & Lingonberry
1500mg Apple Stem Cells
750 Wild Yam
1250 Pueraria Lobata
1250 Pueraria Mifirica
500mg Soy Isoflavone

in each serving, so you'll be sure to see effects! ;) Other than helping you achieve your ideal body, Fairy Blossom also fights your menstrual cramps for you and alleviates your mood while keeping wrinkles at bay, etc. See below for the full list of benefits Fairy Blossom has to offer!

* * *

I was sent 2 boxes of Fairy Blossom, thanks to the generosity of the kind people behind Fairy Beauty and!

I actually noticed that I filled out my bras a little more and my monthly visit was pretty pain free! My boyfriend also didn't ask if I was getting my period (which, FYI, pisses girls off A LOT even though we know that PMS is a very real thing, something about a guy saying "你来/要来了哈/is it that time of the month?" really strikes a nerve - because it sounds so belittling!) because I wasn't cranky and didn't flew off the wall for no reason. I felt like one of those girls in a tampon or pad commercial - smiley and airy and flowery and so darn happy.

These little miracle bottles are are amazing, in my opinion. I measured myself before and after and I actually gained 2 inches! But I did put on some weight because the boyfriend came back for a semester break... So we'll see if the inches stay after I lose weight. But I'm not counting on it, because well, breasts are fat. I won't be surprised if they are the first to go. LOL.

One thing I gotta admit is that Fairy Blossom doesn't taste half as good as Fairy Whitez (click for the review!), and I didn't even like Fairy Whitez half as much as I thought I would. There is a soury bitter aftertaste to Fairy Blossom, but I'm more than willing to overlook it for all its benefits.

HiShop is currently giving away 4 bottles with every purchase of 2 boxes. Aaaand, you can get a RM20 rebate on purchases above RM99 with this special promo code:

Valid until the 31st of July, 2014!

Get your dogtags from Malaysia Military Tag!

I have always, always, liked dog tags. But I was never given one during my months of national service and I knew I would never join the army. So I was really happy when I discovered Malaysia Military Tag!

I got one for my dog, matching ones with the best friend and one for my boy friend. Hence, I had to put this blog post off until he came home so I could give him his.

Anyway, here is a picture of my dog and her dogtag:

Stormy is playing dead so I can get a clear picture of her & her tag! As you can see, the embossing is crisp and professionally done. Stormy hasn't had her tag long enough for me to comment on the durability, but the steel is rather lightweight and thin. I expected something with more substance and weight. However, it is made from stainless steel, so it should withstand the power of nature.

Next, behold the boyfriend's keychain!

You wouldn't be able to guess from the picture, but it is embossed with a quote on the back. The reason the image of The Flash is not distorted by the embossing is because it is actually a hard, high quality sticker! I thought the image was printed onto the steel itself - that is how good the workmanship is. They have a variety of printed tags featuring male superheroes, but there's a villain - can you guess who it is? Click here to have a browse and find out for yourself!

Next are my dogtags. A personal one with one of my favorite quotes and a matching one with my partner in crime. Here's the idea: A code name, a gang name and a motto.

Now we can all look badass!
